Alfies story:

Alfie Oliver:

Alfie was born in July 2008 with a rare heart condition called transposition of the great arteries ( his arteries were in the wrong place) At 16 days old he under-went open heart surgery in which Alfie's heart stopped.During this procedure it was discovered that Alfie suffered from a rare condition called Pulmonary Hypertension, a condition which causes the pulmonary artery to expand in size and block the airway. After this operation Alfie's parents were put in contact with a children's hospice and told to expect the worst. For 9 days Alfie was in intensive care and heavily sedated.

Recently Alfie has had a setback and spent Christmas and New Year in the hospital because of his condition. He has stopped breathing numerous times and is on medication daily.

Pulmonary Hypertension is a disease in which the blood pressure in the arteries in the lungs elevates putting pressure on the heart and reducing the amount of oxygen that is able to reach the tissues in the body.

Unfortunately at the moment, there is no cure!!!!

The reason why we have set up this page is to highlight not just Alfie and what he is going through, but also to highlight the amazing work that the doctors and nurses do at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Their help and support have helped Tracey, Rob and Alfie as well as many other families though such difficult times. Great Ormond Street Hospital help thousands of children each year but never seem to get the recognition that they deserve. Our aim is to change that!

By fund raising as much as possible and showing not just the hospital but Tracey, Rob and Alfie that we care even when we aren't there in person.
