Story

It is with deep regret that we announce the sad passing of Aramis, our beloved former adoption donkey. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed by all of us.

Aramis had been suffering from recurring incidents of sarcoids, which are a type of skin tumour. The initial lumps were treated several times by our expert vet team, but new growths were found and it was apparent that he would never be fully clear of them. Our vets advised that recently his quality of life had deteriorated as his tumours worsened and the difficult decision to gently put him to sleep was taken to prevent him undergoing any further suffering or discomfort. Such a decision is never taken lightly: his wellbeing was always our prime concern.

His best friend and half-brother, Dartanyan, is receiving extra special attention to help him cope with the loss and will continue to live with good friend, Noah, who we are sure will be a tremendous support during this difficult time. I know that he will appreciate seeing his visitors too.

By donating today in his memory, you are making a real difference to donkeys everywhere, enabling us to ensure their sanctuary from suffering. Your kindness and generosity helps us to protect one of the world’s most hard working and humble creatures from abuse, neglect, and suffering. Thank you.
