DON YOUR HAT AND GLASSES · 27 January 2016

We want to ensure that every patient at Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals experiences the highest quality of care available. We raise funds for cutting edge technology, additional specialist staff and extra comforts for patients, over and above what is possible with NHS funding alone.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Here's the thing....... I don't dance...at all...ever...

That is until my daughter told me she is getting married this May. And suddenly I developed a burning desire to 'get over the problem' and dance at my girl's wedding like nobody's watching me.....

My fear was so bad I needed help, and I contacted the beautiful Sara Dolan (www.Hypno-Sis.co.uk)

To cut a long story short, Sara's skills have helped me 'get over it' and my video was my final piece of homework...900+ Facebook views in 24 hrs later and I had an idea......

In order for you all to understand why I'm doing this I need to tell you a bit of family history.  I have two children, Tom and Ashleigh Bartlett. I also have 3 beautiful, oh-so-precious grandchildren - Abby (6), Billy (3) and Evie (1).

My friends on Facebook will probably remember the dreadful time my family went through when Billy was born prematurely at 32 weeks in 2012 and very nearly died 11 days later.  Thanks to Wilf Kelsall and all the team at NICU Rosie Hospital, Cambridge, Billy pulled through and today is a captivating, cheeky, beautiful little boy who melts my heart.

In 2014 we were plunged back into the nightmare when my 3 month old granddaughter,  Evie Rose, was admitted to PICU, Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge with Meningitis.  Again, we almost lost our child, but thanks to the amazing care and dedication of all the team at PICU, Evie recovered and is now, 13 months later, the most beautiful, funny, fairy-like child ever....

and every day I am so thankful for my 3 healthy gorgeous grandchildren.

So here's my idea.....

If I can don hat and glasses and dance like nobody's watching me then there must be other people out there who can do it too ....and what if we all donated £10 or whatever you can afford to NICU and PICU's registered charity ACT?

How amazing would that be?

Just 1 minute of your time (and a donation) could help to buy a  child a lifetime of minutes.....

So go on, make people smile, find your wackiest hat and best sunglasses and do it.....dance for 1 minute (and video it!) ....post it to Facebook and nominate 3 friends .... Let's see how many minutes we can buy for a desperately ill child.

I can't wait to see what we can achieve!

Love

Amanda x
