Story

Anna and I are climbing Kilimanjaro in September, we are doing this for fun and for the personal challenge however people were asking if we were raising money for charity and we thought this would be a good idea as it will be an added incentive for us to train and make sure we complete it! We have chosen the Calvert Trust as our charity; there is a link to the right side of this page where you can find out more about them. Just so you know this is a holiday for us so the charity aren't putting anything towards this trip and all the money will go straight to them!!

As most of you know Anna and I really enjoy visiting the Lake District and we couldn't imagine not being able to visit and enjoy such an amazing place. The Calvert Trust make visiting the Lake District and other national parks possible for people with disabilities by having specialist equipment and accommodation and also providing respite care for the families of people with disabilities. I know that if I was in that situation I would be very thankful to have somewhere like the Calvert Trust to be able to visit so I think it is a very worthy cause.

We would really appreciate it if you could make a small donation to the Calvert Trust to help them with the fantastic work they do.

About the charity

The Lake District Calvert Trust provides residential outdoor activity courses for people of all ages with physical, sensory, learning, behavioural and/or mental disabilities. Its mission is to challenge disability through outdoor adventure. Pioneering equipment adaptations, and intensive, instructor-led activity programmes (that include climbing, abseiling, canoeing, sailing, horse/trap driving, archery, orienteering and paragliding), provide an environment whose aims are to teach, challenge, motivate, engender confidence in ability, promote independence, and foster integration. All instructors are highly trained and specialist qualified, and the facilities are specially adapted and fully accessible to all. The Lake District Calvert Trust provides a unique and life-changing experience for those with disabilities, who are encouraged to believe that it’s what you CAN do that counts.
