Doris was our Mum, Daughter, Sister, Friend, and inspiration. On 4 January 2010, she passed away peacefully after a long struggle with cancer.
In the last few years, she had spent a lot of time in the Bodley Scott 2 ward of St Barts Hospital in London. She always received wonderful care and attention from everyone with whom she came into contact. As a family, we were given assistance in making things easier for her - patient explanations of what was happening, food (smoked salmon and champagne on Christmas Day!) and consolation during difficult times.
Doris's only complaint was the lukewarm tea from the machine in the day room. So in her memory, the most fitting tribute we can give is better tea for the patients and visitors. For this reason, we asking you to give donations instead of flowers and all the money will go directly to Bodley Scott 2.
We've used JustGiving because it makes things a little easier to organise (and Doris loved being organised!) If you prefer to pay by cheque, visit
Barts and the London Charity donate page.
If you donate here, please
leave a funny story to include in the book about Doris we are going to make for her most treasured possessions - her grandchildren.
