Remembering Daniel

Stephen Jones is raising money for World Literacy Foundation
In memory of Daniel Jones
Learning to read and write is fundamental for any individual to succeed at school and beyond. But there are 770 million people globally who are illiterate and 2 billion who struggle to read a sentence. We work across the world delivering literacy programmes and to break the cycle of poverty.

Story

On the 20th November 2021, our beautiful baby boy Daniel died, aged 16 months. Daniel had started to explore the wonder of books and was learning lots of new words, with a particular fondness for pointing to illustrations of bees and saying “bumble”. In his memory, we would like to make sure all children get the chance to read and learn, so are inviting donations to UK Reads.

UK Reads (http://ukreads.org/) is the UK arm of the World Literacy Foundation, a charity which aims to eradicate illiteracy by 2040. UK Reads gifts fun and engaging books to children from disadvantaged backgrounds and offers support to struggling readers and their families, so that every child can experience the joy of reading and of owning books.
