Story
I'm not much of a swimmer but I've been training since around Christmas to swim a mile in open water on Sat 4th July this year.
At the time of writing I can swim approximately 800m none stop in a chlorinated, warm, calm swimming pool where I can touch the bottom at anytime. A mile (1650m), none stop in sub 20 degrees water seems a long, long way away...
I've decided to take the plunge in the shadows of the evil empire to raise money for this fantastic charity that helped good friends Andy and Rachel and their son, Charlie.
Here's their story.
Charlie was diagnosed with a astrocytomas brain tumour in June 2014, fortunately the diagnosis was positive with the tumour being benign and classed as low grade.
That doesn't mean that Charlie is by any means out of the woods, he has regular MRI scans and numerous check ups to monitor his progress.
The Brain Tumour Research charity are looking to raise £7m to fight brain tumours and fund sustainable research. currently brain tumours only receive 1% of the national spend on cancer research.
Almost 1 year on Charlie is getting back to living life like all 5 year olds should be and its down to Charity funded research like this one that has helped him get him to where he is today.
Thanks for your support.
