Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This is actually the story of my little boy. Please read on...

Baby Jeremiah was born on the 23rd of December 2014. Shortly after his birth, he was diagnosed with Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension and Meconium Aspiration Syndrome. In medical terms he was in very poor state of health just hours after delivery.

By midnight of the 23rd of Dec, Jeremiah was transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Children’s Hospital, Manchester and he was immediately placed on multiple medical procedures. However, he was not responding to all of these procedures and his condition grew worse. The only medical option left at this point was an ECMO treatment which was available at the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in London. ‘’ECMO is used for new-borns and children suffering respiratory and/or cardiac failure as a result of birth defects, trauma or severe infection".

Great efforts were then made by the team of consultants at NICU led by Dr Ngozi Edi-Osagie to get Jeremiah admitted into GOSH. On the 25th of Dec at about 5.30am, Jeremiah was airlifted to London by the North West Ambulance Service.

Then upon admission at GOSH, Jeremiah’s condition began to stabilise and as such, the medical team decided against administering ECMO. He continued to make progress and on 28th December, he was airlifted back to NICU Manchester so he could continue his recovery. Subsequently he was given an all-clear from all the above-named symptoms and discharged on the 31st December 2014. Everyone called him “the little miracle boy”.

All the hospital staff both in Manchester and London did an amazing job looking after Jeremiah and I am grateful to see him growing up healthy and strong every day.

In 2016, I participated in the Great Manchester 10K Run to raise funds for the Royal Manchester Children Hospital Helipad Appeal. Now in 2019, I am continuing my support for the Manchester Children Hospital by participating in the Run.

Alongside this support is my desire to achieve a new Personal Best, which would be to complete the run under 90mins!!! My little boy Jeremiah is 4 years old and he is also running 1.5k - We can do it!!!

More importantly though, your support will go a long way to help the hospital improve the facilities available to staff and also help them to continue meeting increasing demand, while maintaining a great level of service delivery for children in need of care.

Thank You!!!
