We are Rainbows Hospice, our mission is to support the children that need us most

Story

Rainbows offer care and support for children with life limiting conditions. I can't imagine how heartbreaking it is to have to rely on Rainbows, but I can appreciate how amazing it is that so many people can.

£150 would result in:
Up to 30 days of oxygen supply for a child; or,
6 half hour sessions of music therapy; or,
15 hours of care from a hospice care team member; or,
3 hours of care in the hospice itself.

What they do

Sadly, some children simply don’t live long enough. Since 1994 we’ve opened our doors and hearts to those children and the people who love them most.

As the East Midlands’ only hospice for children and young people, Rainbows is a place where life-limited children and their families can find care and support. Our incredible team of people helps relieve symptoms, improve quality of life, support parents and siblings through their bereavements and care for children until the end.

Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People was founded by Gail and Harry Moore, whose daughter, Laura, died of leukaemia in 1989. Laura’s favourite thing in the world was a rainbow. That’s how the hospice got its name.

Prince Charles opened the centre in Loughborough and since then it has helped thousands of children, young people, their families, siblings, relatives and friends from across the East Midlands.

The hospice provides care for the region’s children and young people who need it the most.

The centre is caring for 309 children and young people, 278 bereaved families and 522 siblings.
