Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Hello and thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

Well, thankfully it's all over!! We just want to thank everyone who sponsored us for your support, we really appreciate it and it certainly spurred us on!! We both have sunburn and sore legs, but are pleased we finished! Emma did it in 2 hours 7 minutes, placing 17,446th, and Eamon in 2 hours 15 minutes, placing 22,047th. Our celebration food this year was Donuts and McDonalds. (runners food don't you know) We are loving the shiny medals we got for our trouble, as you can see from the picture!

It was 2 years in September since my Dad had his Stroke, and he has battled like the true trooper he is towards full fitness. He also returned to his job as a school caretaker. The kids missed Mr Wade a lot during his time away, and he missed (most of) them too! Although he is not 100% back to his former self, he's pretty close and never ever complains or feels sorry for himself. If he finds something difficult to do, he will construct some contraption to help him 'do the job' and it's not unusual to find things such as pencils sellotaped together and other random objects around the place! He obviously missed his calling as a Blue Peter presenter....

Anyway, enough about him, he'll get a big head....

Some facts about Stroke:

A Stroke is a Brain Attack - a clot or bleed in the brain causes brain cells to die.

Strokes can happen to anyone of any age - even children or babies.

As the UK's 3rd biggest killer and a leading cause of disablilty in the UK, the £1 spent on research in comparison to every £50 spent on Cancer and £20 on Heart Disease doesn't seem enough.

PLEASE sponsor us to help us raise money for this very worthy cause!! If you'd rather do it the old fashioned way, we have paper forms too - just get in contact with either of us!

However, donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Stroke Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!

Thanks
