The 6 of us are lucky enough to have spent time in Nepal, an incredible country that has been horribly affected by the devestating events of the past week. We have spent time volunteering and making ties with the local people. While in Nepal, we taught English to young students in rural areas, and during this time we were so warmly welcomed and accepted in the community by the Nepalese. We are fortunate to have made many friends for life in Nepal, and we could never forget all of the people who looked out for us during our trip.
As well as teaching, we had time to explore the beautiful country, and have so many unforgettable experiences, ranging from the excitement of riding elephants to the sense of achievment at reaching Annapurna Base Camp.
When the earthquake hit, we were lucky enough to be in a safe building, and although it was a terrifying experience, we all came out unharmed. We were then looked after tremendously for the days following the quake, until we could be evacuated from the country. Many people have not been this lucky. There are still thousands of people missing, potentially still alive and requiring help. All those left in Nepal need our help. There are food and water shortages all over the country, and we have friends who are too afraid to reenter their homes for fear of more aftershocks.
Any donations that you make will be very much appreciated, and will make a huge difference in rebuilding this country, a cause which is very close to our hearts.
