Story
Thank you for taking time to visit my JustGiving page. I am so excited and proud to be running the London Marathon in 2014 in memory of my Grandad and to raise money for the Stroke Association. In 2008 my Grandad suffered a stroke which left him requiring 24 hour care and robbed him of his quality of life in his last few years. Strokes are devastating. They can occur at any age and the lasting impact has a catastrophic effect not only on the survivor but also their family and loved ones.
The Stroke Association works tirelessly to provide support for stroke survivors. Not only do they give valuable advice but they run classes and support groups, give communication support, carer support and sometimes financial help. In my line of work as a neuro-physiotherapist I see on a daily basis how valuable this help can be and I am proud to be doing my bit to raise some funds to help them continue the fantastic work they are doing.
I am finally taking up the challenge of the London Marathon and currently feel a mixture of excitement and terror at the prospect of running 26.2 miles. I have set myself a challenge of completing it in under 3h45 mins which is going to take some effort! However it will all be worthwhile if I can reach my target of raising at least £1500 and knowing on the day that there is that much money resting on my shoulders is sure to make me go quicker!
I would be incredibly grateful for any support you can give me, and would like to thank you in advance for your generosity - The Stroke Association means a huge amount to me personally and professionally and the money you give helps to work towards a future where less people suffer strokes and stroke survivors receive all the help they need. Thank you.
