Story

The Murrayfield Centenary Fund is a fund established by the Scottish Rugby Union to provide ongoing, lifelong supports to serverely and perminantly injured rugby players.

Currently, as a physiotherapist, I have been working with one such rugby player, Connor Docherty, who broke is neck when he was just 16 years old. At the time this happened he was told he may never walk again. Through a lot of hard work and motivation, working with teams of specialists, he has been able to regain function in his legs. He currently manages to walk with a stick but for short periods of time.

Through his physiotherapy we aim to improve on this, giving him back the life he had before the accident. Our aim is to do the West Highland Way- a 96 mile walk from Fort William to Milngavie on the 6th June- 12th June 2011.

This will be a huge achievement and through our efforts we hope to raise the profile of the Centenary Fund who has supported and will continue to support young rugby players like this. We also hope that in doing this we will provide hope and motivation to those who have been affected in a similar way.

All support will be massively appreciated. To follow Connor's progress go to www.phyzz-ed.com and click on Connor's Blog
