Text ELSE80 and amount to 70070
On the 3rd and 4th of October we'll cover 100km by bike, foot and kayak in the inaugural Else Challenge that we’re doing in order to raise £10,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity
We'll cut to the chase - we really need your sponsorship so we’re asking friends, colleagues, partners and clients alike, please keep reading...
As September is Awareness of Childhood Cancer month, it’s apt that we see the month off with a gruelling and physical multi-sport challenge in the Brecon Beacons. It’s a sobering thought that in the UK, brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 yet less than 2% of cancer research funding in the UK is spent on brain tumours.
The Brain Tumour charity are dedicated to beating this devastating disease. They work to fund and promote research to improve understanding, diagnosis and treatment of brain tumours, and ultimately find a cure. They do all that they can to enable everyone with a brain tumour, their families and carers to receive the best support and information.
We’ve been in training for this for a few months now and we’ll earn every single penny of whatever you sponsor us by mountain biking, kayaking, road cycling and hiking through the Welsh Mountains.
- Day one - starts at 6am with a 50km mountain bike across Offa’s Dyke before a 14km kayak up the River Wye to our camp.
- Day two - starts early with a 25km ‘very hilly’ road bike, no doubt in the rain and against the wind, before a 20km hike home
We need £10,000, so every £5, £10 or more is going to help.
We know that these sponsorship things come around a lot, so we’ve tried to make it super easy for you:
- Give via our Just Giving page (quick) or
- Text ELSE80 and amount (i.e. ELSE80 £10) to 70070 (very quick)
If you are kind enough to support us here’s what your money could do:
£250 - Could help cover a day's research for one of our leading brain tumour researchers to further the understanding of a particular type of brain tumour, in order to provide more targeted treatments.
£100 - could fund one Support Group meeting for people living with a brain tumour and their families. This allows them to ask question and share stories with people in similar circumstances, gaining invaluable support from peers and healthcare professionals.
£50 - Could contribute to the funding of a crucial Clinical Trials Co-ordinator - the person who sets the brain tumour clinical trial up, runs the patient recruitment and processes the critical data produced from the trial.
£25 - Could cover the cost of providing the essential information needed by someone currently living with a brain tumour.
Thanks for your support.
