Story
My friend who was diagnosed with Leukaemia last year was treated at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. The Teenage Cancer Trust Charity has recently funded a brand new ward for teenagers with cancer. This provides support to the patient's and families. This charity is UK based and are involved not only at Addenbrookes Hospital, but country wide. It provides top facilities, making visits for treatment more enjoyable and relaxing.
''We don’t believe that teenagers should have to stop being teenagers, just because they have cancer. So we build specialist units in NHS hospitals which improve the quality of life and chances of survival for young people with cancer.''
Please have a look at the pictures on the following link to see the Unit at Addenbrookes hospital ... http://www.teenagecancertrust.org/what-we-do/specialist-services/units/addenbrookes-hospital/
However, money to the charity also supports the following:
- Rapid access to cancer services offering accurate diagnosis and a competent assessment
- Evidence based treatment with access to clinical trials
- The best chance of survival with the least possible physical cost
- A high standard of age specific facilities
- Access to staff that understand them and their needs
- Peer support
- Psychological, social, educational, and employment support
- The best treatment as close to home as possible
Thank you for your support
Emily
