Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Around 3 years ago I visited my god mother who, after the sudden death of my grandmother when my mum was 16 years old, became the mother figure in her life.
I found some old photographs that I thought she might like to see as they were from their trip to America in 1979 and since my mum passed in 2004 she had struggled to talk about her without becoming upset so I thought looking upon happy memories might help. While looking through the photos she started to discuss the trip with me like i had been there with her, i began to realise that she thought I was my mum. When I tried to tell her that she was wrong and that it was in fact my mum in the photos, she became angry and I, deeply upset.
I received a phone call around a year later, it was my god mother apologising for mistaking me and getting angry with me, she explained that she had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
My godmother is just one of many people in our family that Alzheimer's has effected and I want to do as much as I can to help raise money for vital research so I am doing the thing I hate the most.. running!
