Story

Dear All,

My Story

Just before Christmas I had volunteered to run the London Marathon for the Brent Centre for Young People, but unfortunately just missed the chance. I was disappointed but offered to be put on the reserve list, if anybody had to drop out, highly doubting this would happen I indulged over Christmas and didn't think anymore of it . . .

So there I was the week before my first exams ,when I received an email from the BCYP saying someone had been injured and could I step in. 10 weeks before the marathon (17th April) I have insanely accepted and am attempting to train to run the 26miles in under 5hrs.

The Brent Centre for Young People was established in 1967 by Moses and Eglé Laufer to provide psychotherapeutic work for adolescents. The Centre offers services for young people as distinct from children and works towards a greater understanding of adolescents. Over the past 42 years the Centre has provided treatment for thousands of young people and their families.

The Brent Centre offers a number of different services such as:

Family Therapy, Drugs and Alcohol Outreach, Schools Outreach and Mental Health Support and Engagement.

In Summary:

I know this is an unknown charity for many of you, And until I visited it I didn't know a lot about it either. After learning more about the support offered to young people I understand how important the work they do is. This is why I have decided to take on the challenge of training for and running the London Marathon in about two months, I'm doing this in aid of the Brent Centre for Young People.

Impossible! I hear you say well. . .'It always seems impossible until it is done' - Nelson Mandela

Thanks for taking the time to read this, support and donations are very gratefully received.
