Story
We're going to run the 2019 London Marathon, raising funds for Rockinghorse - an amazing local charity that is close to both of our hearts. We all know that the NHS is chronically underfunded, so the equipment that Rockinghorse is able to provide is needed now more than ever.
Tom & I have both been in the position where we have used these resources & in some situations, they have been an absolute lifeline (one winter for instance, when we very nearly ran out of ventilators). Rockinghorse are also helping to fund a really groundbreaking asthma trial that Tom is a part of, aiming to personalise asthma treatment for children based on their DNA.
If you don't know us, Tom is a paediatrician & has worked all over the Alex Children's Hospital & NICU. I'm a children's nurse who worked for 7 years on the paediatric critical care unit. We're both currently working out in Brisbane whilst Tom does some research. On returning home next March, we were really keen for a big challenge & there aren't many better than the London Marathon!
Tom has always been a good runner, but for me this will be my first marathon - a huge personal challenge, especially as when we arrived here last year I wasn't even able to run 5k. We've got 4x half marathons booked in as part of our training, so are definitely taking it seriously.
We'd really appreciate any donation you could make & can promise you that it's going to an amazing charity.
