Aspire Channel Swim 2017 11/09/17 - 04/12/17 · 4 December 2017 ·

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

I'm taking on the Aspire Channel Swim 2017, swimming the distance of the Channel over 12 weeks to raise money for Aspire. Every eight hours someone is paralysed by a Spinal Cord Injury and Aspire provides the essential equipment, advice, housing and grants that spinal cord injured people need to live their lives independently. This is a big challenge, but the more I raise, the more of a difference I'll make, so please be generous!

As many of you know in 2015 I had another spinal op and on waking up discovered my right leg was paralysed...with a lot of hard work and great support from the Morello physiotherapy team I have made great progress and getting stronger every day.  Not everyone is as fortunate and those with spinal injuries  don't get as much rehab or support as they need.  With the help of Heather, a great friend who also happens to be pregnant and Wendy from the Morello team we will swim the 21 miles needed  to support this great charity.  Thank you to everyone who has supported us! Xx
