Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page !

Emma : After running Race for Life in June, and actually enjoying it, I decided to set myself a much bigger challenge...so I will be running the Great South Run - all 10 miles of it - on 26th October 2008.

I am running for Parkinson's Disease Society, a charity close to my heart, as my late Grandfather suffered from Parkinson's Disease for many years. It is a very dehabilitating condition - and I can honestly say it is absolutely heartbreaking to watch someone you love suffer with Parkinson's.

From personal experience, I became aware that Parkinson's Disease is a condition which is very misunderstood by many people. So I am running for Parkinson's Disease Society, not only in memory of my Grandfather, but in the hope that I can help raise awareness of Parkinson's Disease and raise money for much needed research into the condition.

Ben :  "Ben here...everything I could say about my motivation for taking part in the GSR has already been summed up perfectly by Emma.  My grandfather was and continues to be an inspiration to me, but he's not the sole reason I'm running in October.  The Society deserves all the help it can in increasing awareness, understanding and research efforts into an incredibly debilitating condition - please give generously."
