Edinburgh Marathon 2008 · 25 May 2008 ·

Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity believes no child should face hospital alone. Every day, 500 seriously ill children face a life-changing hospital visit. Children tell us it can be frightening. Parents say they're sick with worry. We want to change this. With your support, we can. Are you in?

Story

Hi there ….

It’s Paula, Ben, Denise and Tina from Scotsman Publications, the new recently-formed Edinburgh Evening News Relay Team!

On 25 May, we’re taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon - that’s 26 miles of running, shared between us.  Sounds gruelling to us!  But, it’s all for a great cause …

We’re raising money for the Edinburgh Sick Kids Hospital, more details below.  But for now, here’s a quick intro to the team ….

Paula – Listens to slow music on her i-pod while training so lacks some pace.  Likes to run past her local bars to see who’s in there and dislikes breaking into a sweat.

Ben – Likes bacon rolls and may suffer due to lack of training in the early stages but is steadily gaining form and talks a good game - his bullish attitude should see him perform well.

Denise – The party animal of the team, late nights and boozy sessions may hinder Denise’s performance but only a bit as she’s the young colt of the team and predicted to set a good pace.

Tina – Fastidious in her training, likened to a gazelle, and experienced at running in the rain, cold and wind whilst still managing to smile and look happy – how does she do it?

So that’s us!  We are hoping to run the Marathon in less than four hours, as part of the Hairy Haggis Relay Race.  So after all our efforts and training, please donate generously.

All money raised will go to the Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh.  The Evening News is a big supporter of Sick Kids and recently ran a very successful campaign to keep neurology and cancer care for children at the hospital.

Now, we can do more with your help.  To place your donation, follow the instructions …

Thanks everyone,

Paula, Ben, Denise and Tina
