Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·
Thank you for visiting our Justgiving page. Family Links was set up to improve wellbeing and relationships within families. We do this by training parenting practitioners to run 10-week parent courses in the Nurturing Programme. We also train school staff to run a modified version in schools.
Parenting children is a joyous yet difficult job - 24-hour, 7-days a week with the occasional weekend off if you are lucky. The Nurturing Programme allows parents and carers space to take a break from the stress of parenting, to talk with other parents and learn strategies to cope with challenging behaviour. These are then tried out week to week. An important part of the programme is getting parents to nurture themselves, because in our busy lives that often gets lost.
This year, we have two Marathon runners raising funds for Family Links. Richard Pring is 72 and running his 26th marathon, while Darren Cock is running his second, hoping to improve on his time of 3 hours and 58 minutes. Your donations will go to our developing Parent and Teens programme that helps deal with that time when children suddenly want to be adults, when they and their parents are often not ready for those changes. For more information go to: http://www.familylinks.org.uk/parenting/teens.html.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. Every penny you give is greatly appreciated.
