GRACE is dedicated to improving the treatment, recovery, and survival rates of women diagnosed gynaecological cancers and to providing local hospitals with vital surgical equipment. Your support directly helps the women around us – our mums, sisters, grandmothers, daughters and friends.

Story

Hello,

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.  I am a specialist oncologist at St Luke’s Cancer Centre in Surrey, where I treat all female cancers. This year I will be running the London Marathon to help raise vital funds for GRACE – a gynaecological cancer charity that supports local women from across Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire.

GRACE raises vital awareness to promote early diagnosis of the different forms of gynaecological cancers , funds desperately needed research into their causes and treatments, as well as providing local hospitals with vital surgical equipment.  Their work fills a void for a desperately neglected area of cancer research.  Every year one million women worldwide are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer.  Just 200,000 fewer than those diagnosed with breast cancer, they account for 10% of all cancers.  In the UK alone, 18,000 women are diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer every year.

Please help me improve the recovery, treatment and survival rates for women diagnosed with this terrible disease by sponsoring my run. All proceeds go direct to the charity and will help save more women’s lives.

With best wishes,

Farid
