Dreams Come True is a national charity that enriches the lives of children with a disability, serious illness or life-limiting condition by making their dreams come true. It's the only UK wish granting charity supporting children in the highest areas of deprivation. www.dreamscometrue.uk.com

Story

After 6 years of saying "I'm going to run the London Marathon", Faye has finally run out of feeble excuses (wedding planning, two pregnancies and a couple of operations thrown in for good measure) and has roped in Sophie to carry her round.  Sophie is glutton for punishment having run the London Marathon twice already...

Faye has taken the role of Chief Trainer and is managing a vigorous and regimented training plan (Sophie has a secret suspicion that its colour coded with marks for each run) and Sophie is therefore actually training for the 26.2 mile "run" rather than attempting to get through it on adrenaline and pure stubbornness (which her dodgy knee is bound to be rather pleased about).

New Years Day 2011; -3 degrees, icy pavements, sleet ...even the weather was telling us that this was the perfect day for a DVD, nibbles and slobbing on the sofa.

As Faye excitedly announced at 9 miles "only a few more miles to go," four things really hit home to Sophie:

1) Who ever said you can run off a hangover was lying
2) Skipping a 'little bit of training' in the run up to Christmas really does undo all previous good work
3) Faye might be enjoying this a little bit more than she should
4) We are actually going to be running the London marathon this year..eek!

So lots of early starts, too many cold, wet runs to mention and 2 half-marathons later, we are slowly building up to the 26.2 miles!

Why are we doing this? The why is easy. Running a marathon together has always been our dream, but this charity makes some much more important and precious dreams come true.  Dreams of children who are seriously or terminally ill. Having ran for them twice before and witnessed the smiles, joy and treasured memories they create for whole families of some very incredible children, every second is more than worth it.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you!
