Pendleside Hospice believes in nurturing and caring for those in our local community affected by advancing long term and life limiting illness, through to end of life care and bereavement, by providing a range of comprehensive and easily accessible services to support them on their journey.

Story

On July the 18th we will be running over 85 miles in six days from the coast of Filey to our hometown Otley camping along the way. This means that we will be Carrying our tents and all other necessary equipment with us.

This challenge is organised entirely by ourselves, planning the route, accomodation, training etc we have set ourselves this challenge as a personal goal but also as a way of raising money for the charity ''Pendleside Hospice.''

The Pendleside Hospice is a registered charity meeting the needs of people with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses in the Burnley and Pendle area.

The purpose of a hospice is to improve the quality of life for its patients. This is achieved by medical and specialist nursing care, and the provision of social, emotional and spiritual support for the patient and their family and carers.

This charity has a personal significance to me (Jimmy Garner-Currie) as it was the place where my Grandpa, Ian Currie, was cared for before he sadly passed away in February 2007. I would like to be able to donate something to this worthwhile cause whilst at the same time promote awareness for this charity.

The route we have set ourselves goes as follows . . . . .

Day 1- Filey to Snaiton (14 miles)

Day 2-Snaiton to North Grimston (15 miles)

Day 3-North Grimston to York (16 miles)

Day 4-York to Sutton-on-the Forest (7 miles)

Day 5-Sutton-on-the-Forrest to Whixley (16 miles)

Day 6-Whixley to Otley (18 miles)
