Story

My daughter was first diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) when she was 10 years old. It caused her severe pain and hypersensitivity in her leg, where even the slightest touch would cause her extreme agony. At one point we thought she might lose her leg. Through months of heavy medication, physio and counseling she eventually managed to control the pain and start to return to a normal life.

Unfortunately there is no known cure for the condition and it is something she is learning to live with.

Her most recent major flare up was last year, but this time it effected both legs. While all her friends were returning to school from the covid lockdown she was still stuck at home, in pain and unable to walk.

It has been a tough year of treatment and physio for her but thankfully she recovered enough to sit her GCSE exams this month.

As part of her recovery goals she set herself she wanted to enter a novice triathlon to raise awareness and money for Burning Nights CRPS charity. Although she was able to walk again the physio advised her not to risk entering, which she was disappointed about.

Instead she asked if I would help raise money and awareness for the charity, which does amazing work for people who suffer from CRPS.

So this year we found three tough events I could enter and help raise awareness and money for a great cause on behalf of my daughter.

3rd July - Iron Man UK. 2.4mile swim, 112mile bike and a 26mile run
3rd Sept - Dart 10k. A 10 km swim down the river Dart.
6th Nov - New York Marathon

We appreciate times are tough these days and money is a little tight, but if you could spare a couple of pound it will go to a great cause.
