Finlay's Angels

Finlay Joseph was our beautiful 6 year old son, a perfect little boy in every way and a fantastic big brother to Louis, aged just 3 years old when Finlay was killed.
At 9am on March 14th 2011, whilst walking happily hand in hand with me along the small lane to school, the school bus driver moved the empty bus away from the school and accelerated into us, (he claimed to have hit the wrong pedal).
Finlay's head injuries were so catastrophic that he died in the road right outside his school. I suffered extensive injuries but survived and after many weeks in hospital managed to return home to my family. The bus driver pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving and was sent to prison.
The Finlay Foundation
Finlay has always been such a caring, kind and clever little boy who loved everything about life. He always had a big smile on his face and was concerned about the hapiness of others around him. He loved learning and going to school, he loved to play and chat with both children and adults alike.
We want to keep the memory and spirit of Finlay alive in a way that would be a fitting tribute to him. Finlay hated to see others upset, regardless of age, he would worry about them and try to make them smile. It is with this in mind that our aim was to set up a foundation that would bring smiles to childrens faces. Through fundraising events and donations, we aim to provide things like play equipment, safe play areas, learning resources, riding hats, cycling helmets for example, to hospitals, hospices, schools, nursery schools and youth groups.
This year I wanted to mark the 2 year anniversary since Finlay's death by fundraising for The Finlay Foundation and the people that were involved on that horrendous day. I was flown by the Great Western Air Ambulance (based at Filton in Bristol) to Frenchay hospital in Bristol. After deciding on an abseil, Bristol was my natural choice of a venue as it is due to the paramedic on the helicopter and the surgeons & Staff at Frenchay that I am alive today. The Wiltshire air ambulance flew Finlay but he could not be saved.
When I announced to friends that I wanted to do an abseil, I was overwhelmed by the amount of people & friends that have wanted to join me on the abseil and raise money for these fantastic charities.
Our goal is £4,500, please show your support for the charities above by donating to our team, (Finlay's Angels).
