Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I decided to run the Edinburgh Marathon firstly as a challenge to myself. As many of you will know, as some wont, I have suffered with severe mental and physical health issues since being medically discharged in 2012.
I find it difficult these days to forget that I am not the person I used to be, but I set myself this challenge to prove to myself that I would not be defined or held back by my issues. It wont be the fastest marathon on the world, but my aim is to just make it round (or be dragged of by the ambulance!)
I selected the Venture trust as my charity because of the help they gave me recently. They provide a course for veterans called positive futures, where a selection of veterans went on a wilderness journey up north in Scotland. Being around like minded individuals and the staff at venture trust, really gave me the uplift I needed at the time, and it gave me some of my old confidence back. The service and courses they provided, not just to veterans, is excellent and I felt that raising some money and awareness for them was a good way for me to give back to them.
