Jemima and I are going to do the ear camp in Nepal!
Twice a year, ear camps are held in different areas of Nepal, to provide audiology to nepalese people who do not have any access to such services. The camps are run by a voluntary charity, the Independent Nepal Federation, and are staffed by specialists from the UK. These patients are able to have operations on their ears, or have hearing aids fitted, and this makes a real difference to their quality of life.
Audiologists from Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge have been donating their expertise over the past few years, and this November, Jemima and I will be the 2 audiologists on the team. We will be basically doing as many hearing tests, and fitting as many hearing aids, to the patients who need it, as we can. We are responsible for financing our attendance at the camps and providing the equipment we will be using, including the hearing aids our patients in Nepal need. We therefore want your generous donations!
Please sponsor this very worthwhile event, and motivate me to get to the very random location of SWINDON (?!) to do a half marathon in order to raise money for Nepal. My aim is 2 hours... which is rather ambitious now I am realising...
