In February of this year my mother-in-law died. I only had the privilege of knowing her for three years but she had a huge impact on me and was just the most wonderful person I have ever met (apart from her daughter). She had the most wonderful sense of humour, the kindest eyes and smile and just made everyone feel a million dollars. Everyone says you're supposed to have a difficult relationship with your mother in law but I adored Mrs S completely.
Triathlons were not invented for someone of my mediocre sporting talents. When I swim I'm like a beached whale wallowing in the water, when I bike all I can think is how painful the saddle is, and when I run into the wind I move backwards.
BUT in spite of this I am doing my first triathlon - 1.5km swim, 50km bike and 10km run, in honour of my mother in law. It's the London Triathlon on the 6th August 2006, and the swim is in the Thames which is probably the dirtiest river in Europe. It's a test of stamina, endurance and strength, so frankly I am completely unqualified to take part.
All funds raised will go straight to the Eve Appeal which is a fantastic UK based charity funding research into Ovarian Cancer.
Please give as generously as you can for this fantatsic cause and in memory of a truly great lady.
Thanks so much
