Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For those that know me, I used to be a bit of a chubster and couldn't run very far without "stopping to tie my shoe lace" or "checking that contact lens hadn't come out".  Well, last year my uncle got injured and at very short notice I ran the Dronfield 10k in his place with my sister. Since then, I kind of got the running bug. Moving a bit quicker than a walk to a destination, and then back is good fun – who’d have thought?! Five 10ks down the line, and now I'm ready for a half-marathon and what better one to take part in than the Great North Run.

I'm running for Oxfam; a stupendously great charity that really should need no introduction (you can read about them below if you've been living under a rock all your life).  Picking a charity to run through was fairly easy for me; Oxfam do tireless work the world over, especially in places where the poor and vunerable are largely ignored.  I am lucky enough to have been born into great circumstances; I can nip to the shop for food, turn on a tap for a glass of water, go to the local chemist for tablets. Where I live, I do not witness widespread poverty first hand, and it breaks my heart that it is such a prominent force in many countries whether it's due to climate, bad economy or a corrupt government (most of the time all three). It is incredibly important to me that people receive help in any way possible,  whether it’s providing shelter for the refugees of war-torn Syria, feeding the families in the poverty stricken areas of mid-Africa, or giving emergency relief to places affected by earthquakes and other natural disasters.

I appreciate any donation, no matter how small, and I thank you again for your time in visiting my page.
