Rachel had 3 separate stays in The Nightingale Macmillan Unit at Royal Derby Hospital. The care she received was absolutely fantastic and helped Rachel so much in the last days of her life.

Rachel's wish was to raise money for them so that other people would continue to receive the same care and attention that she did.

Unfortunately like so many truly worthwhile causes in this country Macmillan is heavily dependent on donations to keep operating.

We have already raised nearly £2500 including £425 from a Cake Sale and Christmas Jumper event at University of Derby as well as £325 donated at Rachel's funeral (a further £323 was raised for Cancer Research).

In April along with 3 friends I cycled 100 miles in the Derby Sportive and raised around £1500. 

My major activity will be on the 20th October when I will be running the Yorkshire Marathon. Why a marathon? Well, I needed it to be a challenge and although I have run several half marathons I've never run a marathon. Why Yorkshire? That's an easy one, Rachel was a proud Yorkshire lass and I made a promise to her that I'd do it.

All money raised will go directly to the Nightingale Macmillan ward at Derby and will be used to provide patients with the best possible quality of life.
