Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

As most of you know I lost my brother Steve to cancer last October.  I can't begin to describe how much we all miss Steve.  My sister, Maz, said it best when she said "I can't bring my brother back, but I want to help others suffering from or affected by this disease".

At some point in early July (depending on when I arrive in Borneo and weather conditions) I will be climbing the 2700m to the summit of Kinabalu, 4100m above sea level (nearly half of the height of Everest).  It is the highest mountain between the Himalayas and Papua New Guinea.  While the peak is high enough that altitude sickness can be a concern, the lack of snow and the park infrastructure makes climbing Kinabulu safer than other mountains of similar height, so please don't worry.

All going well, you should be able to read about the climb and see the photos on my blog in a few weeks:

www.cats-adventures.blogspot.com

or, alternatively, you can take me out for a drink when I get back in August and hear about it, and the rest of my travels between hiccups.

Anyway, the point is, it's a tough, painful (I'm told) two day climb, and if I'm going to put myself through this, I want to know that I'm raising a big pile of cash for a cause that is close to my heart.  Incidentally I'm paying for all expedition costs myself - this isn't a charity challenge and I'm not getting a free holiday out of it.  So please feel free to sponsor me below.  If you've made it this far you know you want to, go on...

And please don't forget Gift Aid:

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Cancer Research UK will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.

Please donate generously.

Many thanks for your support.
