Story

Greetings,

If you’re reading this message then you know what this is all about. The money I’m trying to raise is just for all the poor buggers; Bootneck, Pongo, Matelot and Crab who came back from Operations in a different condition than when they went out. I myself came back from Afghanistan with bits missing, in my case it was mostly cosmetic (some of my ‘friends’ suggest that I’ve actually improved in the looks department), unfortunately some others weren’t as lucky as me. Therefore if we can raise money to help them have a better standard of living then we can help in some small way, because sure as sh*t the Govt aren’t.

I shall attempt to update this message as and when I can, however I should warn you that I am a complete IT biff, as can be seen from the message at the top of this page. I’m not actually taking part in the Big Battlefield Bike Ride, but rather the Great British Hero Ride which arrives in London on Sun I June 08. I intend to get there on my own unsupported bike ride from Plymouth to London.

On Sun 25 May I attempt the Plymouth Half Marathon and on Tue 27 May I commence the bike ride; stopping at Commando Training Centre RM, Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton and DLO Andover, putting my expensive military training to good use and adapting, improvising and overcoming the problem of where to lay my weary head (and indeed buttocks) on the fourth night. The exact distance is still something of a mystery as I’m avoiding major A-roads, hand railing them whenever possible. Once I’ve pinned down an exact route I’ll publish it and you can all laugh.

In the meantime, dig deep and many thanks for any contribution

Sgt ‘47 Minute’ Frank Williams RM stupidly, he was probably drunk when he thought of it, has decided to run the Plymouth Half Marathon on Sun 25th May 08. For those of you who know him, that in itself is an act of incredible stupidity, however he has decided to climb through these heights to an even greater idiocy, and commit himself to a solo bicycle ride from Plymouth to London on Tue 27 May, H4H call this one The Great British Hero Ride. The idea is that this will take four days, stopping at CTCRM, RNAS Yeovilton, DLO Andover and any where else along the route that has sympathy for his old and knackered bones, culminating in an FRV, Sun 1 Jun, at Whitehall with 3000 other cyclists who in turn are supporting the Big Battlefield Bike Ride‘s return.

In the Artillery Pub is a collection box, to that end, any spare cash you have, especially on a payday Friday, put it in the saddle bag on the bar, Mark or Belinda will point it out, next time you get cash back, get an extra fiver and bang it in the box, come on you know its worth it! Everything raised goes direct to H4H and the bonus is the Govt don’t get their greedy mitts on it!
