Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you may or may not be aware Freya's little sister Saskia has a very rare genetic condition called Williams Syndrome.

Williams Syndrome is a rare congenital disorder that occurs randomly and affects around one in 18,000 people in the UK. There are around 3,500 known cases. The cause of Williams Syndrome is a tiny deletion of part of chromosome 7. It is non-hereditary and causes distinctive facial characteristics and a wide range of learning difficulties. Many have hypersensitive hearing, with fears of loud noises and have a minor but treatable heart condition. All Williams Syndrome people tend to be talkative and excessively friendly towards adults.

Saskia is a loving, funny and caring little person. Williams Syndrome has presented a number of challenges to her which she has not only overcome but is also absolutely determined in all other aspects of life. It is sometimes difficult to appreciate how brave she has been during some of these hard times. Saskia has a very cheeky personality and brings so many smiles to friends and strangers alike. We are so proud of how far she has come and that she starts school in September. She also has a wonderfully supportive and caring sister in Freya.

Freya would like to raise awareness of Williams Syndrome by climbing both up and down Mount Snowdon on Thursday 23rd August 2018. This is a 9 year old who still spends most her time on her Daddy's shoulder's due to her "tired little legs". Unfortunately for me and our friend Sue she has demanded we join her.

We are planning 4 walks of increasing difficulty before the main event and will be updating the site with these trials and tribulations. She has also promised not to take the train back down.

Freya is climbing Mt Snowdon in support of the Williams Syndrome Foundation. Formed as a Registered Charity in 1980 it aims to promote research and provide help and support for families with affected children.

Freya would love any messages of support towards this challenge more than anything else. However if you could donate towards her quest, no matter how small, she would also appreciate this very much.

Thanks,

Freya, Richard and Sue
