Story

Hello, thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.

Firstly, a bit of back story to put all of this into context...

Sadly in October 2018, our family was hit with the huge loss of Dorothy Combe, (Nanny) after a long battle with Leukaemia. Whilst our family will never be the same, in the recent months I have felt more and more proud of the way we have all looked after each other and supported one another.

So, to commemorate Nanny I will be cycling from Edinburgh to the village I grew up in, Ixworth. This 450 mile route (724km for my metric friends) is of particular significance to me as it represents the 7 hour drive we embarked on countless times growing up to visit my Nanny and Papa. To do this same trip under my own power is something I will always be proud of, however mental it seems to attempt. I thought it was a long way in the car...

I will be cycling this route completely unaided, bringing everything I need with me. That means several bags attached to my bike and enough food, shelter and other supplies to last the 6 days this journey will take - tent and all. I plan to take this challenge on from Sunday 11th to Friday 16th August, fingers crossed the weather is reasonable!

Given the numerous MacMillan coffee mornings that Nanny organised and ran over the years, it seemed only fitting to continue to raise money for this special charity. I'm aiming to raise £500.00 with this challenge, so any help is greatly appreciated.
