Our story

Jeff wants to raise money for an amazing place that saved his best friends life and will continue to look after her throughout her childhood. He will be on the search for 100 bears that are dotted around Birmingham and he will have a photo with every single one to prove he spotted them all #jeffsbearmission2017

Lydia was born with spina bifida, a birth defect in which means the spine does not fuse properly in the womb leaving a hole at the bottom of her back. Birmingham children's hospital repaired her spine when she was a few hours old. After a week of recovery from her operation we were able to take her home. However 24 hours later we were rushed back in as Lydia had sepsis. A blood infection that can be fatal. We were told 'the next 48 hours will be crucial' a phrase that just rips your heart apart. But thanks to the wonderful team at BCH we still have our smiley Lyddy Belle.

Lydia still has regular appointments with different teams in BCH to help with her development. From physio, to help her to walk, to urology to help with bladder problems associated with SB. She will continue to have these appointments for the rest of her life.

Ross and myself (and Jeff of course) can not thank every doctor and nurse in BCH enough for their work and support throughout the last year and a half.

We would like to raise as much money as we can to help support their charity in helping other sick children  and continue the fantastic work that they do every second of every day.

Anything that you give would make a massive difference. Thank you Love Charlotte, Ross, Lydia and Jeff xxxx

About the charity

It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.
