The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

I’ve used my hair as a coping strategy my whole life as it has always been the one thing I could control. I’ve hid behind it and I’ve let it define me. If I’m having a bad hair day then I feel hideous but, if my hair looks nice, then I feel more attractive. My face hasn’t changed, just my hair has and I’m sick of it. I want to show people how your hair isn’t you, it is part of you yes but it’s not the be all and end all.

I will be documenting the stages I go through when I’ve shaved it. That is to hopefully make those who haven’t got a say in whether they get to keep their hair or not feel more confident and less anxious about the dramatic change. This will all take place on my twitter as well as the discussion of how much hair effects us all.

Thank you for donating, my Twitter is @HairShmair
