1000 Miles for Mermaid - Support Trans Youth! · 10 October 2022

Mermaids is a UK charity working to support transgender, non-binary and gender diverse children, young people and their families. Our vision is a safe, inclusive society where trans children and young people are empowered to live their best lives.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This is my second fundraiser for Mermaids, my first one was 500,000 steps for trans youth where I met my goal of £200. Over 3 months I finished it despite ankle injury. My ankles are doing much better these days and I also need to rehab my injured knee (story for another time). With Trans rights in general are being attacked along side the abuse Mermaids have taken lately from anti trans groups. I felt like why not put my steps towards a good cause.

This time I shall walk 1000 miles and hope to raise £1000. I am giving myself more time to do this one, I am going to aim for 6 months but with my injury and recovery not being linear, I would be happy if I can complete it within a year.
