1000 Mile Cycle for the Homeless

1000 miles Cycle for the Homeless · 16 May 2019
There are 120000 homeless children in the UK.
Centrepoint is a charity which helps young people get off the streets. They do this not only by providing them with a safe place to stay but also a platform on which they can rebuild their lives.
Our aim is to cycle 1000 miles across Eastern Europe for the Centrepoint charity in order to help do something about this.
We are two university students - Calum Laing and Oli Prendergast. The reason we chose to fundraise for Centrepoint is that so many young people in the UK are left without support and safety and have no where to turn. Centrepoint has successfully been carrying out life changing work to provide these vulnerable people with a future. Each year the charity helps 10,000 people, providing them with the skills and security they need to start a new life.
We both love cycling so we decided to embark on the challenge to cycle a thousand miles across Eastern Europe, on the 27th August, in order to raise money for Centrepoint. Our cycle will go through 9 countries starting in North Macedonia and ending in Hungary. The journey begins with a mountainous climb through Albania before a long stretch along the coastline of Montenegro, Bosnia and Croatia and a final inland journey through Slovenia, Austria and Slovakia to Budapest.
Our target is to raise a pound for every mile each of us cycle. We will keep our page updated with our progress.
