Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

CLIC Sargent fights tirelessly to stop cancer destroying young lives. They work  to help each child and young person when they
need it most. In the Summer of 2018, I had chemotherapy and a Bone Marrow Transplant to treat my failing immune system. Without the transplant, it would have progressed to an incurable form of leukaemia.

I would like to raise money for CLIC Sargent, so I have decided to set myself the challenge of making 1000 origami cranes (I have
previously only made around 30 since I started doing origami). There are many ideas behind the art of origami, from historic legends to signs of peace. I will string them together and form a piece of origami art. This hobby of mine is intrinsically linked with my transplant, as I learnt how to fold during this time.

''Cancer isn’t stopping for coronavirus. We are seeing a 60%
drop in our income, while the number of families in crisis increases rapidly. Young cancer patients and their families truly need you now, more than ever.''

CLIC Sargent gave me day to day support. They provided a
social worker, financial help & advice, a “Thrive Not Just Survive” grant
to give me a platform to kick start my career again, a home from home during my transplant for my parents for free, the opportunity to attend a music residential trip and the chance to meet other people who were also diagnosed with cancer, forming invaluable friendships which were so important to me at the time of my transplant, and still are to this day.
