Story

There's nothing better than a pint on a chilly autumn day by a roaring pub fire, or a good glass of red from the local deli while dancing and cooking in the kitchen, a pint of cider in a sunny beer garden, or a cheeky cocktail that cost £15 in a bougee London bar that was worth every penny.

To those who know me, you’ll know I love all these things - and you’ll also know that recently both my mum and dad have been diagnosed with aggressive and rare cancers.

Most people have sadly had first-hand experience of cancer, and I know for me, Macmillan have offered support and advice along the way, no questions asked. Their “Sober October” is coming up – a month alcohol free and a worthy challenge – but as a perfectionist, I thought I'd round it up to a nice even number.

So, instead of just one month of giving up a pint, I’m doing 100 days dry up until just before Christmas eve.

From 14 September to 22 December, I’ll be doing the pub quiz with a lime and soda, swapping in white wine vinegar for the risotto, grabbing an iced coffee to soak up the last of the summer sun, and spending my dosh on overpriced mocktails instead.

It’ going to be difficult difficult lemon difficult.

Please give generously to make all those missed pints worth it and help give something back.
