The Nigel Brown Challenge - Both targets have been achieved
It's been eight weeks since we started our challenge on behalf of Nigel Brown, who was recently diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus, to raise GBP10,000 for the cancer charity Ochre and to collectively lose 100lbs by the end of July.
We are pleased to let you know that both targets have been reached. To date, we have raised GBP8,708 online to which can be added gift aid of GBP1,414, giving a total in excess of GBP10,000. And we have also exceeded our combined target weight loss of 100lbs at our last weigh-in, finally losing 101.5lbs between the five of us. Our challenge now is to stop the weight coming back on!
We would like to thank all of you for your generous donations and for your words of positive encouragement as we resisted as many temptations as possible over the last eight weeks. Nigel has also asked us to thank you on his behalf for your wonderful support.
We hope that Nigel will make a speedy recovery and be back with us soon.

In support of our friend and colleague Nigel Brown who was recently
diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus, we have decided to undertake a
fund raising challenge for the cancer charity Ochre. Ochre promotes an
awareness of oesophageal cancer to the public and funding for equipment for
early diagnosis
You'll all know Nigel Brown as the current Global Chief Operating Officer
for Halbis Capital Management or his time previously as the Global Head of
Risk for AMG. Nigel has been with HSBC for over 14 years in these and
other roles.
The challenge is for Alistair Colwell, Steve Gibbon, Angus Schumacher, Bill
Maldonado and Joe Wycliffe to shed some unnecessary body weight as summer
approaches. More specifically we plan on shedding a combined 100Ibs in body
weight between June 1st and the 31st July this year. This may not seem like
a huge amount of weight to lose individually, however, all of us are either
on holiday or attending various functions/events that will test our
willpower during this period.
