As some of you may know, my hero of a nephew Max was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia called JMML, over Christmas at just over 3 months old. If you want to know just how rare JMML is, there have only been 6 diagnosed cases in the last two years!
Through the last 4 months, Max has spent nearly every moment of his little life at either the Royal London or The Great Ormond Street Hosptial. He's been through varying procedures including full chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant heroically donated by his sister Layla. Through it all, he has smiled his charming little smile and battled back with a positivity most full-blown adults would struggle to take.
Through it all, he has been cared for and supported by the caring, professional and unbelievably loving team at Great Ormond Street who somehow manage to make every child feel special and take some of the daunting nature out of everything. They truly are heroes.
I'm pleased to say that because of their care, the bone marrow transplant was a success and little Max has now been discharged to return home to be with his family in their home. I know in this time of isolation, we're all a bit sick of home... but a picture of Max with his family in their home is enough to make anyone realise how lucky most of us are.
I know our countries (and others!) wonderful medical people are currently at the front of everyone's' minds - This cycle is a small way of my dad and I trying to give something back to GOSH for everything they've done for Max and our family.
Any donations no matter how small (or big!) would be hugely appreciated
**** For every donation made I will be accepting nominations of extra challenges on my Instagram Stories (@Czasz93) - Just include your isolation challenge in your donation message to see me embarrass my dumb self! ****
Love & Hugs - From a suitable 2m distance.
Dan xx
