Story
Inspired by the incredible life and legacy of Captain Sir Tom Moore I'm taking on the #CaptainTom100 challenge. This run in dedicated to my dearest stepdad Bill who sadly passed away on the 28th February this year. I'm aiming to raise what could fund 100 hours of care from a Teenage Cancer Trust Youth Support Coordinator.
Cancer at any time in life is deeply distressing, cancer when you're young and during a pandemic - no words. It's been a challenging time for all of us, yet more so than ever for young people and their families facing cancer. Nursing and support services are stretched and weary after such a truly challenging year - an influx of new patients, some in the late stages of diagnosis due to symptoms not being spotted or acted upon soon enough..THIS MATTERS! Teenage Cancer Trust nurses and support workers are in a word 'super heroes'. They go over and above every day to provide individual specialist care and support. I feel privileged to hear from families and young people the impact of their incredible work on a daily basis, and it always makes my heart sing. THIS MATTERS. The global pandemic continues to put pressure on funding for so many thousands of UK charities, the impact of which will be felt for years - Teenage Cancer Trust needs our help.
