Land's End to John O'Groats · 3 August 2005

Avert’s vision is a world with no new HIV infections. We’re empowering people to protect themselves and others, and supporting those living with HIV. Every year, we engage with millions of individuals, community health workers and primary health practitioners in areas of greatest need.

Story

Done it!

We completed the 1,011 miles between Land's End and John O'Groats at midday on 24th September. Saddlesore but happy, we immediately opened the champagne, and enjoyed reflecting on a tiring but uplifting 10 days on the bike.

Please help me raise money for AVERT, the charity nominated for this event. AVERT do very important work for the most marginalised people in the human race - dispossessed, orphaned and with few sources of income. Often despised at home and ignored abroad.

Your money will be going directly to AVERT's Sisonke project in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Among other things, the money raised will help children orphaned by HIV/AIDs - the most innocent of all victims of this virus.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: AVERT will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support. James Stevens
