25 runners from Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport are running 10km on Sunday 15th May 2011 in the Great Manchester Run.   Our aim is to raise £10,000 to improve the environment in the Maternity Unit and provide a comfortable and relaxing place to give birth.  

Giving birth is a stressful time for women and their partners and research has shown that creating the right environment can improve birth outcomes for both Mums and babies.  We have excellent, motivated staff and state of the art equipment but your money will be used to make the Unit more welcoming and comfortable.  By supporting our cause you can help make a difference to the 4,000 women and babies who use our services every year.

Our team is made up of a range of staff from across the Trust, their friends and relatives.  There are a few people who are experienced runners but the majority of the team are novices.   It is a huge challenge for many of our team who are training hard to make sure they can complete the run.   We all hope that you will support our cause.
