Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After losing our son Oliver we took some time to think what we wanted to do to help other people who may face a similar situation. We decided on raising £10,000 for the HR Trust. The HR Trust is dedicated to promoting and funding scientific research into uncovering not only the causes of the histiocytosis diseases, Langerhans' Cell Histiocytosis and Haemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis, but also ensuring early diagnosis, effective treatment and a cure. I took on the 'Dirty Weekend Rat Race' challenge in May which was a 20 mile obstacle course and after training hard for it I didn't want to just stop and lose my new fitness that I had worked so hard to achieve. So I carried on with a few light runs since just to keep active. I finally took the plunge to take on a half marathon and hoping to push for a decent finishing time. I am aiming to complete it in under 1 hour 45 minutes which is a tough target. There will also be Wayne Morris, David Gray-Clark and Laura Paddock taking part and raising money for the charity in memory of Oliver for which I am most grateful to them and their sponsors!
The real driver behind all of this is to hopefully help funding enough research into the horrible desease that took my son away from me at the tender age of 2. Oliver was such a true boy and loved playing in mud and getting messy. We have had such a tough time since June 2012 when we he became a little star in the sky. If we can help find a cure which saves at least one other family going through the heartache we have gone through it will be worth ever bit of physical pain. One of our main drivers was Toby, Oliver's brother who was born just 6 days before Oliver passed away, he was our reason to carry on and get up in the morning. We were also very blessed to have an amazing group of friends and family who supported at the time and who continue to do so in any way they can. I know people might flipantly say 'they will do anything for you' but in my case I know that is true of each and everyone of them as they have done it!!
So please dig deep and donate whatever you can to this charity. Although we have already raised the initial £10k we still want to carry on to the end of the year to add a few more pennies to the charity :)
So please dig deep and donate now. For more information on our fundraising efforts please visit www.10kForOlly.co.uk
