In memory of Patty Coleman

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Recently my family suffered the loss of a fantastic woman Patty Coleman. This was the fourth relative of ours to be struck down by this disease. This has a massive impact on those closest and can often leave families torn with the distress it causes, not only for the patient but also for the family and the people closet.

My chosen charity is the Altzheimers Society, so i know my fundraising will support people who are in care, need care and also to support families caring for someone with Altheimers, as well providing funding for the research of the disease.

I have decided to do this challenge with some of my work colleagues, and have chosen to cycle the length of our work area. The journey will be between Carlise and Lancaster which is around 70miles.

British Gas Smart Metering is the company we work for, who have offered us as much support we need to achieve our objective.

So far i have been amazed at the response from my colleagues at with 7 cyclists and a 4 man support team organised in the first 3 days, and hope that this is a positive sign of the months to come.
