Story

WEST CUMBRIA RUN 2010 - In Memory of PC Bill Barker.

Along with my colleagues in Cumbria Constabulary I could not believe the news when I woke on that fateful morning to hear that Bill had been lost to the floods.  Bill epitomised everything that was good about Cumbria Constabulary and his memory will live on in our hearts and actions.

When I heard that the West Cumbria Run was being dedicated to Bill's memory I felt I had to take part.  Bill's favourite charity was the Great North Ambulance Service and the run will raise money to allow them to continue their great work.  I haven't run 10 miles in more than 20 years, so I've a bit of training to do.  If I don't get to £200 from donations I will make up the amount myself, so the Scot in me is pleading for you to throw a bit of loose change in the direction of the cause.

Edit:  Race completed.  My own timing was 74 minutes for the 10 miles.  Thanks to all for your sponsorship!!
